The high frequency system is the heart of every particle accelerator. It accelerates the particles as they pass through resonators. Ongoing research focuses on automating these elements, to use cheap materials and to develop efficient high-frequency amplifiers that can be used in the car and air industry, metallurgy and in mechanical engineering. More efficient RF cavities can be used for medical accelerators as well as help to reduce power consumption in communication technologies.
